Stanley Dale "Cowboy" Henderson, 66, died surrounded by family and his loving fur babies Derby, Moose, Clifford and Lucky, at his residence in Del Norte on Saturday, May 25, 2024. He was born on Jan. 26, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas, to Daniel "Byrd" and Beverly Henderson.

His passion was assisting the firefighters of any community he ever lived in, and he taught the art of firefighting at Texas A&M University. Cowboy was a volunteer firefighter for Del Norte Fire Department for 10 years. Prior to Del Norte, he had a combined career of over 30 years as a firefighter. During his career as firefighter, he served in various ranks including periods serving as Chief of the Seabrook Fire Department in Seabrook, Texas, First Assistant Chief for San Leon Fire Department in San Leon, Texas, and Chief of the Fire Department at Clean Harbors in Deer Park, Texas.

He is survived by his child Nathan Henderson (Brittany), grandson Brad Henderson, brother, Rob Henderson (April), sister Laura Denise Brandt, sister Marie McNamara (Shawn) and his mother.

He was preceded in death by his father, and sister Doris Stuart.

A Celebration of Life will be performed at 955 French St. in Del Norte, Colo., on June 29, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.
