MONTE VISTA- The Monte Vista Police Department responded to a call for service due to suspicious activity at 918 Morton Street around 9:30p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, a residence known by the police department for drug activity and where the resident had numerous warrants. Upon responding the police witnessed a potential drug transaction and several people fleeing the scene. Six people were taken into custody and placed in separate vehicles. While police were taking statements, 24 year-old Meghann Reynolds escaped the police car she was detained in by either getting the window down while in restraints and opening the door from the outside of the car, or an unknown person in hiding opened the car door from the outside for her to escape.

Reynolds was originally wanted for a Rio Grande County warrant but now has additional charges pending. Reynolds has blonde hair and was last seen in flannel pajamas and restraints in the 900 block of Morton Street. A close family member reported to police she has not contacted them as of Tuesday morning. Monte Vista residents are asked to please call 911 if you see her and not to approach her.
