Two dead in Saturday shooting in Saguache County

ALAMOSA — The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting following a pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Saguache County, just before 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 25.
Saguache County deputies attempted to contact the driver and passenger of a stolen vehicle (silver, Jeep Patriot) in the town of Moffat, on Saturday morning.
A pursuit was initiated by Saguache County deputies, and later joined by a Colorado State Patrol trooper and an Alamosa County deputy.
The female passenger of the stolen vehicle brandished a shotgun during the course of the pursuit that traveled along several county roads.
A CSP sergeant successfully deployed stop sticks on Colorado Highway 17 at the Highway 112 junction, near the Saguache/Alamosa county line.
The stolen vehicle came to a stop in the middle of Colorado Highway 17. The driver and the passenger both exited the vehicle, with the shotgun brandished during the pursuit, and may have been heading toward another vehicle that had pulled over to yield to the pursuit in the area.
The CSP trooper fired multiple rounds toward the suspects. At least one of the suspects fired a weapon.
It is believed the male suspect, who had been driving the stolen vehicle, shot himself. Both suspects were pronounced deceased at the scene.
There were no injuries to law enforcement during the incident.
The CSP trooper’s name is not being released at this time. The suspects’ names were also not released as of Monday evening. This is an ongoing investigation.
