Three-day closure on US 160 in Monte Vista set to begin on June 13

Crews to replace rails at train crossing between Monroe and Euclid streets

RIO GRANDE and ALAMOSA COUNTIES —The Colorado Department of Transportation announced there will be a temporary closure of US Highway 160 in Monte Vista while crews repair a railroad crossing between the intersections of Monroe Street and Euclid Street, near the Safeway store.

The three-day closure will begin on Monday, June 13, and continue through Wednesday, June 16. Local traffic will be able to access all business along US 160 within Monte Vista.

Detour for Through Traffic

  • Motorists traveling east and west through Monte Vista will be detoured south of US 160 through city streets.

Eastbound

  • At the intersection of 1st Avenue and Broadway Street (US 160 and US 285), travelers will turn south onto South Broadway Avenue (CO 15). Travelers will turn east at 6th Avenue, then travel north on Henderson Road to US 160.

Westbound

  • Travelers will take Henderson to 6th Avenue, then north on South Broadway to US 160.
