Monday, Jan. 20, the Monte Vista High School held an unveiling of the Doug Steward Science Wing.  Doug Steward was a dedicated educator and worked in the district for 18 years.  He taught biology and was actively involved in the school’s highly successful science fair program.  He came from a family of educators and had a passion for supporting youth both in school and out in the community.  Doug was an active Boy Scout leader, participated in Civil War reenactments, and enjoyed anything and everything outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman, who even taught students to fly fish in Aquaculture class!  The Monte Vista School District is proud to celebrate the legacy of Mr. Doug Steward by naming the science wing in his honor.
