Stanley Jay Aldridge

Stanley Jay Aldridge, longtime Monte Vista resident, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021. He was born on March 19, 1957, in Monte Vista, Colo., to Preston and Irma (Cox) Aldridge.

Stanley was the second youngest of 11 brothers and sisters. He graduated from Center High School in 1975. Following high school, he worked as a mechanic at Zapata Motors for 2 years. He then started at Valley Lumber where he worked his way up to manager. He was at Valley Lumber for 40 years.

On Sept. 3, 1977, Stanley married Kathy Jo Bloxsom. They had two children, Tammy and Dustin.

Stanley enjoyed fishing, team roping, motorcycles, woodworking, and football. He was an avid Denver Broncos football fan. He was always mechanic-ing on something or other; able to tear down an entire engine and put it back together, minus a bolt or two.

He enjoyed a good family BBQ. Would haul both his children to the end of the world for rodeos, 4-H functions, and State Fair. He supported both his grandsons Grady and Stetson in rodeo, football, and Gymkhana. He never missed a Ski-Hi Stampede in all his years and enjoyed country dancing with his wife. During any snowstorm, Stanley was the first one out, plowing all the neighbor’s driveways. He loved photographing his kids horse shows.

Stanley is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Tammy (Dan) Carroll, Dustin (Kari) Aldridge, brother Dwayne (Ruth) Aldridge, and sister Candice (Tony) Owensby, grandson’s Grady Carroll and Stetson Aldridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Fran, Ronnie, Jim, Dixie, Debbie, Butch, and two half-siblings.

His greatest attribute was his love and support for all his family and friends.

The memorial service will be on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Gateway Church, 975 Grande Ave., Del Norte, Colo., with reception immediately following.
