High winds Tuesday morning cost the old JB's building on Highway 285 its roof. The roof also took out power lines behind the building. The Monte Vista Fire Department secured the scene until Xcel Energy could turn power off. Businesses in the area were temporarily without power while Xcel Energy repaired the line. Bill Metz Elementary dismissed students late morning, due to having no electricity.
