South Fork Yuletide celebration this Friday

SOUTH FORK- For the past three years the Friends of South Fork (FOSF) have been hosting the annual Yuletide Celebration event the Friday after Thanksgiving and plans for this year will move forward. According to FOSF representative Kris Steffens this year’s event will be much the same as previous years and the public is urged to attend.

Beginning Friday night at about dusk, the public can come to enjoy a bonfire, Christmas caroling, hot chocolate and the annual South Fork Visitor Center tree lighting. Though the annual Parade of Lights has been postponed this is still a wonderful opportunity to come and celebrate the Christmas season and to have a break from the stress of COVID.

FOSF will not only be celebrating the coming holiday season but have also announced that they will be partnering with the Greater South Fork Community Foundation. The two organizations have been helping the greater South Fork community for many years now completing projects like the Graeser Baseball Field, helping get new equipment for the South Fork Fire Rescue and ambulance services as well as aid with the purchase of new tables and chairs for the South Fork Community Building just to name a few.

Now, the two groups have decided to join forces and through that effort to help the South Fork community in several different ways. From now on the newly formed organization will be called the South Fork Friends Foundation. This partnership will be a huge benefit to the South Fork community in coming weeks and more information on the partnership will be reported as it comes available.

Come out and enjoy the Yuletide Celebration with family and friends. The FOSF ask that those who plan to attend to please bring chairs and blankets to stay warm while waiting for the tree lighting ceremony. More information can be found on their Facebook Page at Friends of South Fork.
