SLVCRF seeks applicants for board of directors

SAN LUIS VALLEY—The San Luis Valley Cancer Relief Fund (SLVCRF) is a community non-profit that raises funds to distribute directly to cancer patients in the San Luis Valley, offering them hope and encouragement.
The SLVCRF has provided financial grants to cancer patients in the communities of Alamosa, Antonito, Blanca, Capulin, Center, Conejos, Creede, Crestone, Del Norte, Fort Garland, La Jara, Manassa, Monte Vista, Mosca, Romeo, San Luis and Sanford. The organization wishes to expand its board membership to include board members from some of these communities.
There will be a “meet and greet” hosted by the board of the SLVCRF for those who are interested in learning more about the organization on Monday, Oct. 29 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Nino’s in Monte Vista, 118 Adams Street.
The SLVCRF annual holds annual fundraisers including the Concert for Cancer Relief, and Memories and Reflections, as well as building the individual membership base and commercial memberships. “Our hope in expanding the board of directors is to hold more small-scale community fundraisers, to raise funds for cancer patients, but also to build awareness and expand our reach. There is something incredibly special about lending a helping hand to your neighbors in need. We have all been touched by this terrible disease, and this is one simple way to help others and show them someone cares,” said President Tracy Doyle.
Individuals wishing to become board members can visit the website at www.slvcrf.org to fill out Google form application, download an application or may complete an application at the meet and greet. The simple application includes questions about relevant experience, areas of expertise and individual skills sets. This information will help the board assess applications to assure a well-balanced team. The SLVCRF board meets four to six times a year.
Downloaded applications can be emailed to Tracy Doyle at [email protected] or mailed to San Luis Valley Cancer Relief Fund, PO Box 1297, Alamosa, CO, 81101. The deadline for applications is Friday, Oct. 26.
