SLV Federal Bank hires new commercial loan officer

SAN LUIS VALLEY— Walter Roybal, Fort Garland, has joined San Luis Valley Federal Bank as a commercial loan officer to assist the bank’s business members with all their loan needs. He is in the main office in Alamosa at 401 Edison Ave.
Prior to joining the bank, Roybal worked for Adams State University in a variety of positions in the admissions and extended studies departments, serving from 2010 to 2017 as the associate vice president for extended studies-academics.
Roybal states, “It was a pleasure serving the students of ASU for over 17 years, and I look forward to making the transition to serving the needs of our commercial loan members at SLV Federal Bank.”
Roybal is a Valley native, grew up in the Blanca/Ft. Garland area and attended Sierra Grande Schools. He is a 1994 graduate of Adams State University obtaining a BS degree in Business Administration – Small Business Management. In 2008 he earned his masters of arts in human performance and physical education – sports administration from ASU. He and his wife Emma reside in Fort Garland and are the parents of four children.
He’s been involved in a number of community organizations and currently serves as the Station 2 battalion captain for the Costilla County Fire Protection District, is a Panther Pee Wee basketball coach and is the president of the Sierra Grande High School Scholarship Foundation.
Roybal is looking forward to building relationships with the bank’s business members and prospective new members. He knows the Valley well and brings a good business background as well as life experience to his position.
