Shooting on Maxeyville Road leads to arrest

MONTE VISTA— On Wednesday, Oct. 24 the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at 8:17 a.m. at 1000 Maxeyville Road, north of Monte Vista.  
Two male parties and a female party were traveling in a truck, the female party was dropped off at the address. After leaving, the driver of the truck ran into a puddle, causing the suspect, Lucas Kolson, to allegedly be splashed with water and mud, leading to a dispute between the two parties.
They returned to the Maxeyville Road address where Kolson used a firearm to shoot toward the other parties and hit the truck. None of the parties involved were injured.
Kolson was arrested and charged with a class 5 felony for menacing, reckless endangerment and attempted first-degree murder. Kolson has since posted bond.
