Search warrants executed

MONTE VISTA – The Monte Vista Police Department, with the assistance of the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office, executed two search warrants early Monday Feb. 10. The warrants were the result of a lengthy investigation concerning ongoing criminal activity at a home in the county and a home within The City of Monte Vista.


William Quirova (49), Joseph Gutierrez (30), and Karl Kloeppel (35); were taken into custody and are facing various combined charges including: Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Theft (Possession of Stolen Firearms), Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine Prohibited, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Special Offender, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a total of six (6) Failure to Appear Warrants.


All charges have been filed with the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and are pending. No injuries occurred as a result of this operation.
