ALAMOSA— A staple in the San Luis Valley has had some amazing changes recently. Walmart in Alamosa’s new store manager, Adam Lopez, has been with Walmart for 15 years but was recently promoted to store manager.
Lopez has already been part of some amazing changes to benefit the store and the community. With the new renovation, the store has a better flow and more items in the store just in time for the holidays. Buying local not only helps support the community, but it also secures more than 350 jobs. Even the pharmacy area has been updated to include a room for flu shots which was needed.
Many of Walmart staff, as well as their families, have benefitted from the services that Rio Grande Hospital (RGH) has to offer. To publicly thank them, a grant of $3,000 was awarded to RGH.
RGH’s Development & Communication’s Officer Eva Timberlake said, “We appreciated Walmart for the generous grant to help support the hospital. Walmart is known for giving back locally to create an impact in the neighborhoods where they live and work. The donation and expansion is a testament to their commitment to the San Luis Valley, and we rely on them so much.” Walmart in Alamosa’s is open 24 hours a day which makes shopping convenient and a rarity in the San Luis Valley.
