RGPP youth hike and BBQ

Members of the Rio Grande Prevention Partners/Communities That Care Youth Council assembled for a hike on Wednesday, June 28. The youth council’s purpose is to contribute to the RGPP mission of promoting healthy communities by developing strategies to prevent youth substance use from a relevant perspective and to put together projects that resonate with youth. Council members organized a bonding activity over the summer and decided on a hike up D Mountain Thursday morning followed by a BBQ. Penny Plummer, Data Specialist with RGPP, cooked for the BBQ. RGPP Youth Council members and guests Montana Younkrman, Isabella Arellano, Chandler Mondragon and Lesli Lopez get started on their hike, which took about 45 minutes to reach the top of D Mountain. They were also accompanied by Michelle Romero, counselor at Del Norte High School, not pictured. Following a successful hike, members of the RGPP Youth Council enjoy a BBQ with their families and RGPP Director Nancy Molina.
