Poker tournament benefits Kids Connection

...

The first Annual Kids Connection Charity Poker Tournament, organized by Three Guys Farms, was held at the Monte Villa on Saturday. Roughly 20 players competed in a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament to benefit the Kids Connection. Alex Notov of Three Guys Farms, who with Kids Connection Director Anika Velasquez created the concept and organized the event, held an informational game before the tournament for beginners and then seated the players randomly for the tournament. Attendees played until Three Guys Farms served lunch, locally raised Mediterranean Pork Ribs or Lamb with several sides, before the final five players sat at the final table. It only took about thirty minutes to declare the victors of the tournament! Between the Facebook fundraiser, sponsorships, in-kind donations of door prizes and an additional $900 raised by players on Saturday, the event was only $1,144 short of their $8,000 goal to sponsor another Youth Coordinator for six months for the Kids Connection. The Facebook fundraiser is still accepting donations through November 14 to make up the difference and can be found at “Monte Vista Kids Connection Annual Charity Poker Series.”
