Neighborhood Watch is on the move
MONTE VISTA—According to Gary Johnson, head of the Monte Vista chapter of Neighborhood Watch, a project they have been working on for the last two years, is coming to fruition. The project involves adding new signs and relocating some of the old ones.
Over the years Neighborhood Watch signs have been somewhat randomly added around town, so members inventoried the current signs and took note of where they are placed. They’ve also began working to raise funds to order new signs.
Finally after consulting with Robert Vance at the Monte Vista Public Works Department, a master plan has been developed that works with the vision of the organization.
Signs will be relocated to give the best possible visibility, especially near the entrance to every neighborhood in Monte Vista. When enough funds are raised, the organization will proceed with the ‘projected’ plan to purchase and place 12 new signs. To view a map of the proposed locations, see www.NWatch.net.
Many thanks goes to those who helped with the inventorying of the current signs including Adele Alfson, Diann Martinez, Margaret Hurd and of course a great friend and supporter of the Neighborhood Watch chapter, the late Pat Lucero who along with Adele Alfson helped put this plan in motion. There were others who helped as well, so thank you to all.
