On the morning of Saturday, Dec. 1, the Monte Vista Fire Department, assisted by the Del Norte Fire Department and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, responded to a fire north of Monte Vista off of Highway 285 in a house next to Brimhall Industrial. The upstairs furnace started the fire in the office area but nobody was in the building at the time and nobody was injured. There was notable damage to the second story of the building but the full extent of the damage is not known.
