Monte Vista student earns DVM degree from OSU

STILLWATER, Okla.— Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences graduated 80 new veterinarians on May 11 at Gallagher-Iba Arena on the OSU Stillwater campus. Among those earning a DVM degree was Seth George of Monte Vista. George is the son of Robert George of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
“Oklahoma’s veterinary program is known for graduating career-ready veterinarians,” said Dr. Carlos Risco, dean of the veterinary center. “Our shelter medicine program handles more than 3,500 spay/neuter surgeries annually, which provides hands-on experience for students. Our graduates also obtain valuable clinical experience through externships in private veterinary practices throughout the U.S. and abroad. Starting private practice salaries for our graduates average $6,000 higher than the national average. We are proud of these veterinarians and look forward to their many successes.”
In addition to private practice, a DVM degree opens doors into many different careers such as military service, academia, biomedical research, government roles, the pharmaceutical industry and more.
