Monte Vista native receives doctor of optometry degree

ELKINS PARK, Pa. – Joshua P. Heersink, of Monte Vista, was recently awarded the Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree during the 114th commencement ceremony of Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry, held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.
Dr. Heersink is a 2012 graduate of Adams State University, in Alamosa. During commencement exercises, Dr. Heersink graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the following awards: the Dr. John E. and Ethel M. Crozier Memorial Award for Excellence in the study of anatomy and pathology, recognition for Clinical Excellence in Neuro-Ophthalmic Specialty at The Eye Institute, and the Practice Excellence Scholarship.
Dr. Heersink has joined his father, Dr. Paul Heersink, in practice at the Monte Vista Eye Care Center, and looks forward to giving back to the community where he was raised. Dr. Heersink is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Heersink, of Monte Vista, and is the husband of Andrea J. Heersink.
