ALAMOSA — At their home course, the Alamosa Mean Moose picked up a second place finish 11 strokes behind visiting Colorado Academy. Monte Vista picked up an eighth place finish at their neighbor’s meet.
Prep golf has hit the ground running this season. Alamosa has attended four meets in the last five days picking up a third and a fourth before Friday’s second place finish at Cattails Golf Course. Not to be outdone Monte Vista has also been keeping busy with five meets in the last eight days. At Fowler last week the Pirates placed second overall with Luke Hoffstaetter finishing in 79 strokes to tie for first place.  As a team the Pirates would pick up two third places before their visit to Alamosa this Friday.
The sun shone beautifully on Cattails Golf Course Friday morning for a warm day of golf at the Alamosa Invitational. Alamosa had two golfers in the top ten to contribute to their score. Brenden Crowther who played a very clean game on all eighteen holes en route to his 76 strokes led Alamosa on Friday. Crowther only bogeyed on six holes and stayed on par for the other 11 with a birdie on hole four to tie for third in the individual standings.  A stroke behind Crowther was teammate Donnie Chavez. Chavez utilized three birdies on the course to help salve two double bogeys that he accumulated en route to his 77 strokes. Aaron Hsu and Colton Liddell finished third and fourth on the team respectively shooting 85 and 86.
For Monte Vista the team lead went to Luke Hoffstaetter who also finished in the top ten overall. Hoffstaetter shot a 79 on the 18 holes picking up birdies on holes three and 16. Behind Hoffstaetter were teammates Casin and Tristen Holder. Casin finished with a score of 89 even picking up the birdie at hole four. Tristen shot a 94 for the day with a birdie of his own at hole seven.
Monte Vista went right back at headed to Fowler for another Invite on Monday, Aug. 20.
