Marsh/MVHS art bombing collaboration a ‘swimming’ success

MONTE VISTA— “Art bombing” is becoming a collaborative tradition between Marsh School and Monte Vista High School’s woodshop program. The fourth annual art bombing project resulted in a “school” of colorful fish decorating the playground fence at Marsh this month.
On April 1 (“art bombing is an April Fool’s day phenomenon around the country”) Aaron Woodke, MVHS shop teacher, brought his students to Marsh along with over 100 wooden fish and scuba divers made by his students.
The children got to work with the teens, selecting paint colors and decorations for their fish, while staff members created scuba divers to “swim” along with the fish on the fence line. Karyn Futrell, Marsh music and PE teacher, coordinated the supplies and the schedule all day long, while teachers brought their students in for their moment of creativity.
“We really want to thank Mr. Woodke for his generosity in continuing this collaboration over the years,” said Stacey Plane, Marsh principal/director. “It  means so much to our children to get to spend time with caring teenagers. This day inspires all of us!”
