MONTE VISTA—  Collaboration and partnership between Rio Grande Hospital (RGH) and Crossroads’ Turning Points, Inc. (CTP) will help the Rio Grande County community get assistance for opioid addiction.
There is a need to expand services for those suffering from Opioid Use Disorder (heroin or other opioid addiction) due to the increasing use in the Valley. Those in need of treatment will now be able to get assistance at the Crossroads’ Suboxone Clinic hosted at the Monte Vista Medical Clinic of Rio Grande Hospital.
This partnership has been the goal of Dr. Ely Walker of RGH for some time, and he is excited to be able to provide the community a convenient place to receive assistance. “I encourage anyone struggling with opioid use disorder to get scheduled for a consultation,” said Dr. Ely Walker. “The San Luis Valley has one of the highest death rates from opioid overdose in the state and this treatment has been proven to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality.”
