James “Jim” Patrick Spence, 65

James “Jim” Patrick Spence of Loveland, Colorado died on Nov. 4, 2019, at Pathways Hospice Care Center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado. Jim was born in Denver, Colorado March 2, 1954, to Oliver and Grace Spence.


 Jim was an incredible Physician’s Assistant. He was professional and dedicated to the patients he served. He worked as a P.A. in Denver emergency rooms and also ran Creede Medical Hospital. He received his Physician’s Assistant license from John Hopkins.


 Jim lived in South Fork, Colorado before moving to Loveland, Colorado. He had one son, Devin, who he loved dearly and spent many great times with, especially after Devin moved to Colorado after high school. In 2006 Jim married Jody Nelson in Winter Park and inherited 2 more boys, Kirk and Devyn, as well as a dog. Many happy years followed.
 Jim had many interests including fishing in salt and fresh waters. He made many trips to Mexico, Belize and several islands for fishing. Jim could fish anywhere and anytime and especially enjoyed fishing with his buddy Mark Green. Jim also had a passion for aviation as he had 5 planes over the years. He loved flying and had a few “wild times.” Along with fishing and flying, Jim also enjoyed traveling, playing the banjo, the mountains and pickle ball.


 Jim is survived by his wife Jody Spence; sons Devin Spence, Kirk Raikes and Devyn Raikes; brother Kelly Spence; and sisters Sally and Kathy. He is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, great aunts, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Beverly.


 A Celebration of Life was held at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019.
