Holiday Festival winners announced

MONTE VISTA—The Monte Vista Holiday Festival Committee would like to announce the winners for the Parade of Lights and Window Decorating Contest held during the Dec. 1-2 weekend.

Parade of Lights: first place overall– Monte Vista Schools Facilities; second place business – SLV Auto Repair, second place community organization – Monte Vista Rotary Club; second place school group – Monte Vista High School Student Council, and third place overall – Girls Scouts of Colorado. 

A great big thank you goes to all the other groups and businesses for placing an entry in the Parade of Lights: Monte Vista Police Department, St. Joseph’s Youth Choir, Monte Vista Pee Wee Cheerleading, Monte Vista Kiwanis Club, Monte Vista High School Key Club. Monte Vista Ambulance Service and Monte Vista Fire Department. 

Holiday festival chair Debbie Garcia said, “We would especially like to thank Chief John Rosecrans for working with the Holiday Festival Committee on the parade and fireworks changes and allowing the parade to travel west on Highway 160 to the high school this year. Chief Rosecrans made the transition so easy by being so accommodating to the Holiday Festival Committee— Thank You!!”

The window decorating contest winners were: first place – Salon Herrera, second place – Southern Colorado Computer Services and third place – SLV Curiosities. The Holiday Festival Committee would like to thank all the businesses who decorated windows or created festive storefronts this year.
