Eight arrested on drug charges since February

MONTE VISTA— On March 9, federal agents executed search warrants in Monte Vista in search of fugitive suspects and illegal contraband. Officers of the Monte Vista Police Department and Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the operation.
Two additional warrants were executed on March 13 related to the distribution of narcotics. This is the fourth warrant executed in the past month directly related to reducing the drug trade and holding participants accountable. This team effort has involved coordination between members of local, state, and federal agencies.
To date, a large quantity of methamphetamines, heroin, illegal weapons and stolen property have been seized. This special law enforcement effort will continue to place the safety and health of the community as a high priority and we will make every effort to focus on those most responsible for the harm.
The following individuals have been arrested in the operation: Art Garza (43) on Feb. 19; Brandon Navares (27), Gabriella Nevarez (31), Pedro Espinoza (32), Matt Espinoza (37), Taz Baroz (23) and Nicole Mahan (21) on March 9 and Nick Peek (43) and Danny Romero (36) on March 13. Please remember to report suspicious activity and “If you see something…say something.”
