Denver Nuggets Skill Challenge competition

MONTE VISTA - The City of Monte Vista is happy to be hosting another Denver Nuggets Skill Challenge competition for local youth again this year. The skill competition is free for children ages 6 - 13 to participate in. They will be able to test their skills in dribbling, passing and shooting. There will be separate divisions for boys and girls to participate in. Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be given out in each division.
The top girl and boy in each age group will be able to advance to a sectional to compete against other youth who won in Pueblo. If they are able to win in Pueblo, they will get a chance to go to a regional competition in Denver at a Denver Nuggets game.
“This is something we’ve been doing pretty much every year for several years now. It’s a free competition that gives the kids a chance to compete and see what their skill level is,” said Jamie Hurtado director/coordinator for Monte Vista’s recreation department.
The skill challenge will be happening Jan. 18 at the Monte Vista Middle School gym: MS GYM 3720 Sherman Ave. Monte Vista CO 81144. Registration will begin at 2 p.m. and the event will start at 2:30 p.m.
