Del Norte girls soccer players receive end of season honors

ALAMOSA — Girls soccer wrapped up and the Del Norte girls carried their competitive spirit from one arena to the next. First it was an appearance at state for volleyball, then it was a third place finish at state in 2A girls basketball and then another appearance at state for the girls soccer team.
For their hard work both Kendra Parra and Grace Whitehorn were named first team All-Conference in the 2A Southern Peaks League while fellow Tiger Triniti Rivera was named second team.
Parra was an offensive force for the Tigers in her junior year tied for the team lead in scoring with 11 goals and leading the team with 30 points. For Whitehorn unfortunately the defender position in soccer can be something of a thankless job, despite that, the Del Norte junior still found a way to register her name on the stat sheet. While her field-flipping clears from the defensive end don’t quite show up in the stats she still logged 6 assists and 6 goals good enough to place third on the team in points with 18, all as a shut down defender. From her Midfielder position, Triniti Rivera finished with three goals and an assist for seven points. Both Parra and Whitehorn would also be recognized at the state level. When the Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) All-State Girls Soccer Teams came out, Whitehorn was named to the Second Team, All-State in the 2A class while Kendra Parra was given an honorable mention.
