‘Connecting Our Communities’ event tomorrow

MONTE VISTA—The Monte Vista School District will be hosting a community night at Bill Metz Elementary on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be various local agencies and organizations on hand to make connections with and find out what supports are available for families. It is a come and go as you please event so you don’t have to be present the whole time. There will be games in the gym for the kids and door prizes drawn every hour. Light refreshments will also be served. Translators will be available as well.

URGED meets Dec. 11 in M.V.

MONTE VISTA—The Upper Rio Grande Economic Development monthly breakfast meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 a.m. at Mountain View Restaurant in Monte Vista featuring a program by The Colorado Farm Brewery and Colorado Malting Company, who will talk about their four-generation-operation in the San Luis Valley.

Have cocoa with Santa at the Elks

MONTE VISTA— Santa is flying by the Monte Vista Elks to visit on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 2-4 p.m. Come in, have some cocoa and tell Santa what you want for Christmas.

Active duty troops’ names needed

MONTE VISTA— Valley Publishing will be running a special holiday salute in the papers on Dec. 19 to honor and thank local active duty military personnel. Please send names of any Valley residents currently serving our country by Monday, Dec. 17, noon. Names can be emailed to: [email protected] or faxed to 852-3387. Please include their hometowns, along with their military branches.
