The city of Monte Vista proudly showed off its new courtroom during the Jan. 17 city council meeting on Thursday night. With donations from the county of Alamosa and the hard work of the public works department and IT staff the new courtroom amazingly cost less than $3,000 to build. The room has wireless technology, speaker stands, seats, a sound system and a bench for the judge. City Clerk Unita Vance presented the crew with tokens of appreciation for helping to build the new professional facility. Vance commented that the municipal judge loves the new room; the first court was held in it on Tuesday, Jan. 15. City Attorney Mike Trujillo also commended the city on the room during the meeting and shared how the court system in Monte Vista will benefit. Pictured from left to right: Jesus Juarez Munoz, Dave Sisneros, Lowell Bolt, James Belknap and Christian Batzer.
