City hosting contest for CML Cities & Towns Week

MONTE VISTA— The City of Monte Vista is hosting a coloring/drawing contest for students in preschool to third grade and an essay contest for students fourth to 12th grade to celebrate Colorado Cities & Towns Week. The contest theme is “My city/town is great because…” It encourages students to think about the important services that the city/town provides. It is open to any grade student living in the city.
Entries are due to city hall by Aug. 30 by 4 p.m.; please mark attention to Azarel Madrigal, community development assistant. Each entry should include student’s name, grade, teacher contact information (or parent information; contact information will be used to contact winner) and school address. A municipal committee will determine the winners Aug. 31-Sept. 5; there will be one winner per grade group. On Wednesday, Sept. 5 teachers will be notified of the winning entries. Winners will be announced at 6 p.m. during the City of Monte Vista Community BBQ and CML Cities & Towns Week Celebration, Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. Winners will be recognized at the BBQ with a certificate.
