Citizen's tip leads to arrests in Monte Vista

MONTE VISTA — Citizen's tip leads to a search warrant and arrests on Tuesday, July 19, at a home on West Sickles in Monte Vista, the Monte Vista Police Department reported.

Officers with the Monte Vista Police Department, Alamosa SWAT, and Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 1123 W. Sickles, Monte Vista.

Detectives with Monte Vista PD obtained a search warrant for the residence based on social media posts depicting weapons and threats toward the public. Detectives determined that several people at that residence had warrants and were prohibited from possessing weapons.

Emilio Lucero, 18, Monte Vista, and a known resident of 1123 W. Sickles was arrested during a court hearing earlier in the day for violating the conditions of his probation, based on information obtained by MVPD detectives with assistance from the FBI.

Ian Lucero, 39, another known occupant of the residence was taken into custody by Alamosa Police Department SWAT after refusing to exit the house. He was arrested and transported to the Rio Grande County Jail for seven outstanding warrants for drug and traffic offenses.

Amanda Granado, 38, Manassa, who was also in the residence but came out voluntarily was also arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Alamosa.

During a search of the residence, detectives found a loaded handgun and ski mask, MVPD reported.

"This investigation was the result of a citizen who was concerned and contacted law enforcement," MVPD Chief George Dingfelder stated. "We remind the public to always call us if you have concerns about potential criminal activity, and if you, 'See something, say something.'"

This is an ongoing investigation.

"We have no other known threats to the public," Dingfelder stated.
