Chris Griffith to serve as acting Divide District Ranger

DEL NORTE — The Rio Grande National Forest (RGNF) announced Thursday, June 2, that Chris Griffith will begin serving immediately as the acting District Ranger on the Divide Ranger District based out of Del Norte.

Griffith comes to the RGNF from the Carson National Forest in New Mexico where he has been serving as the Deputy District Ranger on the Canjilon Ranger District since July 2020. Griffith has had a lively Forest Service career having served in several different positions on numerous national forests across the country.

“We are pleased to have Chris join us on the Divide Ranger District,” said Rio Grande National Forest Supervisor, Dan Dallas, who appointed Griffith. “Chris’ vast experience in forestry, fuels management and silviculture will serve us well.” Griffith added “I am excited to work with the staff and community in such an amazing place.”

Griffith will serve in a four-month appointment behind District Ranger, Martha Williamson, who is taking a leave of absence from her position as she finds time to engage with other activities in the area.

In his free time, Chris and his wife enjoy traveling with their yellow lab “Timber” and exploring new rivers to float and fish to chase.
