ASU Cares Day is Saturday

ALAMOSA—Spend the day volunteering with your favorite nonprofit alongside Adams State University students during the 18th annual ASU Cares Day on Saturday, Sept. 22.
On this day, students along with any interested faculty, staff and community members, will serve at 19 project sites across the San Luis Valley. The volunteers will assist with kid’s crafts and conduct interviews at the Alamosa Farmer’s Market, paint walls with the Center Viking Youth Club, map and record headstones with Monte Vista Cemetery Association, construct trails with the BLM on Greenie Mountain, and much more.
Alexandra Garcia participated in the 2017 ASU Cares Day. “It was a great way to learn more about what’s around you, especially if you are an incoming freshman.” Annelise Allen agreed: “My experience at Penitente Canyon really helped me feel like more of a part of the San Luis Valley and the Adams State community.”
ASU Cares serves as a lead-in to other community engagement opportunities throughout the year. Educational, non-profit, or civic organizations with a need of short-term volunteers, and are interested in more sustained and collaborative partnerships such as service-learning and internships, or would like to volunteer with ASU Cares, can contact the ASU Office for Civic Engagement and Career Services at 719-587-8105.
