Arrest made in M.V. shooting

MONTE VISTA — On Tuesday, Nov. 20 at approximately 12:30 p.m., troopers with the Colorado State Patrol heard what was believed to be shots fired in the area of 4th Avenue and Madison Street in Monte Vista.
Troopers checked the area and contacted an occupied vehicle with several bullet holes in the hood.  The occupants of the vehicle were not injured and were able to identify the individual who fired shots at them.
The suspect in this case is a juvenile who was taken into custody by Monte Vista police officers on Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m on the charge of criminal attempted murder.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Monte Vista Police Department.
The help provided by the Colorado State Patrol and the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office has been instrumental in the development of this case.
