Annual Bike Rodeo teaches safety

...

Over two dozen children participated in the Annual Bike Rodeo Safety Day, conducted by the Monte Vista Elks Lodge and the Monte Vista Police Department Saturday at Fullenweider Park. Participating children were given a free helmet and taught proper hand signaling before demonstrating that they could safely complete a course set up with traffic cones and directional arrows, guided by Community Policing Officer David Pino. The Elks Lodge purchased 10 new bicycles that were provided to children through a raffle. Children earned a coloring book, raffle tickets, a Dilly Bar coupon provided by Dairy Queen and a free lunch provided by Chef Charles’ BBQ (who also discounted the food for the Elks) when they successfully completed the course.
