All-Valley Cross Country runners named
Andre Villa of Monte Vista ran for Sargent.
ALAMOSA — The All-Valley Cross Country honors have been a tradition in the San Luis Valley since 1993 dating all the way back to Joe I. Vigil. Recently the honor has passed to Cross Country coach and Mayor of La Jara, Larry Zaragoza.
This year in 3A it was easy to add Alamosa since they would qualify as a team to state competition. At the state level Alamosa’s boys placed fourth as a team with Elijah DeLaCerda finishing fourth overall. Alamosa’s girls placed eleventh as a team. 2A made things equally easy on the All-Valley Cross Country panel both Centauri and Sargent qualifying whole teams to state.
The only runner not assigned to Alamosa, Sargent or Centauri was Dolores Estrada who ran for Center. Estrada finished 34th at the regional qualifier missing a state championship bid.
